Banana pulp or puree is an important ingredient that is manufactured from the cavendish variety of bananas.
Cavendish bananas are widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions like Central America, South America, and SouthEast Asia.
India is one of the largest producers of Cavendish bananas, with over 29 million metric tons produced annually.
The major cultivation areas for Cavendish bananas in India include Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
Our banana pulp is manufactured in rich quality.
Manufacturing process:
Selection and Sorting: The first step in the banana pulp manufacturing process is the selection of ripe and good quality cavendish bananas. The bananas are then sorted and washed thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.
Peeling and pulping: The sorted bananas are then peeled manually or by mechanical peeler and the skin is discarded. The bananas are then ground into a fine paste using a pulping machine. This machine uses a rotating blade to break down the banana pieces and turn them into a smooth and consistent puree.
Strainer: The banana puree is then passed through a screen to remove any remaining seeds, fibers, or lumps. This process helps to ensure that the puree is smooth and free from any impurities.
Sterilization: The banana puree is then heated to a high temperature using a pasteurization machine. This process helps to eliminate any bacteria or pathogens present in the puree and also extends its shelf life.
Packing and storage: The final step in the banana pulp manufacturing process is the packing of the puree into aseptic bags. The puree is then labelled and stored in a cool and dry place until it is ready to be shipped to customers.
Application of banana pulp
Food Industry: Banana pulp is widely used in the food industry to manufacture a range of food products such as baked goods, baby foods, smoothies, and desserts. The pulp serves as a natural sweetener and flavouring agent in these products due to its high sugar content and pleasant taste.
Beverage Industry: Banana pulp is a popular ingredient in the beverage industry and is used in the production of smoothies, fruit juices, and dairy-based drinks. The pulp imparts a creamy texture and a natural banana flavour to the beverages.
Pharmaceutical Industry: Banana pulp is used in the pharmaceutical industry as an ingredient in the production of various medicines and supplements. It is a good source of dietary fibre, potassium, and vitamins, which can help in reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
